Leclerc Penalized
New control electronics unit causes Leclerc penalty
As many of you saw in the first race of the season the one Ferrari was having electronic issues before the race even started. This led them to replace the Energy Store and Control Electronics. However, it was also the reason Leclerc had to retire the car early. And what happens when you replace this unit a second time in a season? That’s right, a grid penalty of 10 places…. 🤬
Brutal start to the Ferrari season. Seems a little unfair though that you get punished for having a broken unit. Not only do you lose the race but then get penalized the next race 🤷♂️. If they get it right though, they’re going to have to go into salvage mode to get some points, as the best starting position will be 11.

Red Bull Selling RB18 Simulators
You can now own your very own Red Bull RB18…simulator
Red Bull has decided to give F1 fanatics a deal of a lifetime. For a measly $120,000 American Buckaroos, you can have a RB18 replica simulator. I know what you’re thinking, why get that BMW M4 Coupe when you can literally have a replica of one of the best Formula 1 cars ever. Real talk though, why are we only getting half the car and no wheels? I was literally so close to pushing buy now!

Qualifying may change as we know it
The FIA is considering shaking up how the tires are used in qualifying. Usually, it doesn’t matter what tires you use in each qualifying round, but the FIA is looking to make it so that everyone must be running hards in Q1, mediums in Q2, and softs in Q3. This format will be tested in an upcoming qualifying session and Verstappen was not happy about it.
The thought behind this new format would be to create tighter competition and more entertainment for the fans. So you can see why the Red Bull drivers want nothing to do with it, they literally want everything to stay the same, rather than mess with their perfect situation. As a fan, I’m torn. I want to see exciting tightly contested races, but I also love the strategy that goes into every decision these teams have to make. But I guess it can’t hurt to try it out and see what happens. I mean could you imagine seeing Haas or Williams on pole?
Saudi Arabian GP Next
The heat may not be a big factor but the wind might
Saudi Arabia is a desert, so it can get pretty darn hot. In the hot season, it’s above 100 degrees all the time. Thankfully the race isn’t going to be then but it’s still going to peak in the mid-80s in practicing and when the race starts at night it’ll be around the mid-70s. So the heat won’t pose a challenge but it’s going to be windy. Gusts will top 30 mph, which is going to affect the downforce the teams are running.
Jeddah is known for having a fast track, climbing towards top speeds of 196 mph. Cars that have high top speeds are going to have a leg up on the rest. And who had the highest straight-line speed in testing? Ferrari. Ferrari went under the radar last race at Bahrain because of Leclerc’s DNF, but they would have likely finished both in the top 5. Look for Ferrari to give Red Bull some trouble this weekend if Leclerc can make his way up the pack early from his penalty.
